Friday, February 27th, 2009The PC Version of Street Fighter 4 should be out this summer, according to Capcom VP Christian Svensson. It looks like pads and fighting sticks will probably be bundled with the game. Since I’m not a console gamer, the news made me giddy like a school girl. PC gaming dead? I don’t think so, Jack!
According to a recent Consumerist article, a gamer was recently banned from Xbox Live for listing her sexual orientation in her gamer profile. A few hundred comments and replies later, Microsoft issued its official statement on the matter. The banning will apparently stand, though Microsoft’s Stephen Toulouse says (through Twitter) he is working with the community to find some sort of compromise.
GTA IV, The Lost and the Damned apparently broke some records. The downloadable content set new highs for how many people have downloaded new content on Xbox Live, and how much revenue new content has generated for the company. Considering the hype and controversy surrounding the title, the results aren’t all that surprising. I’m still waiting on the PC version. Hint hint…
CCP Games released the feature list of its next free expansion, EVE Online: Apocrypha. Among the features list was the much anticipated release of the “premium graphics” game client for the Mac. The company will also once again be offering a retail boxed version upon the expansion’s release in March, and the new player tutorial has been made more in-depth to help new players deal with the game’s steep learning curve.
The ESRB announced (PDF Format) that it is currently working with the PTA to help educate parents about game ratings. The group will be sending over 1.3 million brochures to 26,000 groups to help concerned parents decide which games are appropriate for their youngsters. No, parents, not all video games are for kids. When will people take video games seriously?
